A Taste of History

This is another opportunity to have a foodie day out with family or friends and it is organised specifically for your private group.  This class is for a minimum of 4 people and includes tea/coffee and refreshments, the tour of the old Workhouse and a goodie bag to take away.

The class and tour takes 2-2.5 hours and we can schedule a date and time that suits you and then discuss the options available such as bread making, jam or chutney demos, chocolate truffles or granola and a firm favourite for many is our flavoured gin class.

A Taste of History Cookery Class

Sian from Wild Fuschia Bakehouse and Cindy from Coco Millis came together in 2023 to set up Donegal Wild Atlantic Flavours so they could teach people about the wonderful produce available as part of Food Coast Donegal and the Wild Atlantic Way.  Sian specialises in baking breads, cakes and preserves and Cindy is all about the chocolate.

The class will be tailored to what you would like to learn about, such as how to make traditional soda bread with a modern twist, rapsberry jam making or perhaps you would like to learn how to make chocolate truffles or make your own flavoured gin.

There are refreshments and tastings during the Workshop and at the end you can explore the Dunfanaghy Workhouse and learn a little about the history of the local area.  The Dunfanaghy Workhouse includes the remarkable story of Wee Hannah a survivor of the Famine and resident of the Dunfanaghy Workhouse.  Wee Hannah's story was written by her benefactor Mrs Law and she is buried in the old graveyard above Dunfanghy at Kill.

All participants get to take home a Donegal Wild Atlantic Flavours Tote bag,  all that you make, plus a Wild Fuschia Bakehouse award winning Irish Bread Mix and a bar of Coco Milis Bean to Bar chocolate.  All recipes are emailed out after the class.
